Show Me The Picture:
The Story of Jim Marshall
A master lensman with an all-access pass to the musicians, music, and seminal events that defined the Sixties’ counterculture and social movements, Jim Marshall is a legend, honored with the Recording Academy’s Trustees Award (Grammy Award) for his contribution to chronicling music history. The award-winning documentary "Show Me The Picture: The Story of Jim Marshall" chronicles the photographer’s colorful life behind and in front of the camera. A child of immigrants, Jim had an innate curiosity about the people and the social issues dominating the latter half of the 20th century. And he had incredible timing, capturing decisive moments of some of the most iconic figures in music history: among them, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Janis Joplin, and Miles Davis His abrasive but honest approach and his incredible skill to build trust, allowed Marshall exceptional access to his subjects and enabled him to expand his portfolio beyond celebrities, to document history across the ages.
Available to stream in the U.S. in Fall 2021.
The Jack + Jim Virtual Gallery
In 2020, Jack Daniel’s, Jim Marshall Photography LLC and Austin City Limits Live celebrated the 9th anniversary of the “Jack + Jim” Gallery — the longest continuing exhibition of works from the archive of legendary photographer Jim Marshall — with a virtual edition for fans to enjoy at home.
Marshall seemed to be everywhere that mattered, visually recording the changing times and the explosion of creativity and celebrity. Marshall saw himself as an anthropologist and a journalist. He immersed himself in that world more than any other photographer and, in doing so, emerged an icon for a new generation of music, art, and photography lovers.
